While indexing the court records I came across this, which I thought might be of interest to someone: July Court 1783: John Angel, a British deserter came into open court and took the oath of allegiance to this state. I have indexed the Minutes, Pleas and Quarter Sessions (full name index) from 1799-1808. I am now working on putting the index on CD. I can also make it available on a floppy disc or in paper form. If anyone is interested please e-mail me at: mellybkr@aol.com Thanks, Melody
Can anyone in Rutherford Cty help me with the Jacob Wolf on the 1800 census of Rutherford Cty, and who the son was and the wife. Have been trying to find out if it was my Jacob wolf b approx 1760's d approx 1796-98 who was married to a Mary Polly Deadman b 1759, Patapsco, MD died approx 1799 or Jacob Wolf b approx 1794( is 1798 on tombstone in Beulah Cemeteary) d 1865 who married unk first then Nancy McEntire Thompson b 1799 died approx 1876 (was Nancy Thompson on marriage bond of Rutherford Cty, NC) The second Jacob Wolf(e) would have been too young to have been a father and listed on 1800 census if the dates are correct. Who is the Elizabeth Wolf? Is she a daughter of Jonathan Fou(t)ch or Elijah Fou(t)ch? If anyone can help I would sure appreciate it. Melanie Oates Malone I have 8 pages written by a late Forest Wolfe of Shelby, NC that had in his papers which were written in 1985 and published in the Essau Huppeday of the Broad River Genealogical Society of Cleveland Cty NC. Anyway Forest wrote that in the 1800 census of Rutherford county, NC, there was a Jacob Wolf with one male under 10 and one male under 26 and one female btw 16-26. There was also a Henry Wolf with 2 boys 1 girl and 1 wife Also a Phillip Wolfe with 3 boys 1 girl, 1 wife Also further it goes on to say that: Rutherford County, NC Marriage Bonds page 343: Elizabeth Wolf married a William Wright on 18 April, 1808 with John Foutch as Bondsman In the minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter sessions: 1810 October term: Jonathan Wolf son of Jacob Wolf, bound to Benjamin Hyder 1811 19 January Court required Elijah Fouch to deliver Jonathan Wolf (child) to court for reassignment to Benjamin Hyder 1811 8 April. Jonathan Wolfe, son of Jacob Wolf, aged 13 bound to Benjamin Hyder until 21 years of age 1811, 14 April In the case before the court at Last Court on motion of Jonathan Fouch respecting the guardianship of Jonathan Wolf the opinion of the court that the said Fouch is not subject for witnessing that was summoned on behalf of Elizabeth Wolfe on said notice. Now I have a picture of John Wolf with his brother William Cathey who is my 2xgreatgrandfather, and I think that this Jonathan above was from a first marriage of Jacob Wolf my 3xgreatgrandfather who married Nancy McEntire Thompson ( just Nancy Thompson on their marriage bond of Dec 1825) But info I had was that Jacob's first wife was Sarah unk, but still wonder if it may have been Sarah Elizabeth. Haven't found any records yet. Researching: Wolf, Wolfe, Woolf, Deadman, Dedmon, Bridges, Bailey, Lee, Grigg, Crowder, Fortune, Suttle, Baxter, Holland, Condrey, Summey, Williams on both sides of family ( have a greatgrandmother named Williams on both sides) Oates, Rouse and many more in NC, KY, Tn, Fl, Ga, Tx and many states in between

We the History Committee at Landrum First Baptist Church is in the proof reading stage of our 200 year history book; First, as Wolfe Creek Baptist Church in 1803, to Landrum First Baptist Church in 1926. This book will be in a limited addition, around 500 pages, hardback with index. We have abbreviated all the church minutes telling what people did in our church. We are missing some minutes all before 1836 and some in the 1930s-1940's. We also put all church members that we could find from 1850's - 1920's, and some other random memberships. We have written a little about each pastor and some of the members, past and present. We hope that all will enjoy. If you have family from upper Spartanburg County, SC and Polk County, North Carolina which used to be part of Henderson and Rutherford County and some from Greenville County, SC could be mentioned in our book. We are charging $20 for the book and $5 for shipping. The form can be found on my website right now and the churches web site within the next few weeks. We expect that the book will be here in November 2004. http://themccoolfamily.com/pat.html Pat
