My guess is - the Webb in question - would be the father of Nancy Webb. B. c1800-1806 who married Robert Haney Jr. b. 1792. I do not know Nancy's father but Robert lived on this Webb's Creek. That's the best I can do. jeff -----Original Message----- From: Lynn E. I am going thru the 1780s court records right now. I am seeing a few names of wives. I thought I would try and share some of these names as I come across them (when the court records are readable!): October 1785: Page 50 [Faded and very difficult to read - laying off of a road] Widow Russell on Broad River Page 49 Ordered that letters of administration to Mary Cooper and James Holland on the goods & chattles, rights & credits of Isaac Cooper deceased. January 1786 Page 70: Ordered that a didemus & protestation issued to South Carolina on behalf of Abel Lewis, to take the deposition of Robert Harper, Margaret Harper his wife & William Boid Senr., & John Boid, William Boid Junr., & [unreadable] Harper Junr., all living on Fishing Creek South Carolina, York County. Hello Everyone, Happy New Year! I have resumed looking at the court records. I came across this, which I thought may be of interest to Withrow researchers: April 1785: Court appointed James Withrow guardian to John and James Withrow orphans of Samuel, deceased. [My connection to James Withrow: He married Margaret Etherington who had Judia Wilkinson bound to her just before her marriage to James. I am researching the Wilkinsons of Rutherford County.] Melody
A very Merry Christmas to all and hope you have a wonderful 2005. I'm looking for volunteers to participate in the Crawford DNA group testing. My Crawford cousin has mailed off his test. We are descendants of George Washington and Mary (Polly) Crawford, who married in Rutherford Co., NC, and after a few moves arrived in Fannin Co., GA. Our ancestor was Levi. Levi took his family to Winston Co., Al, then to Polk Co., TN and finally to Rhea Co., TN where Levi died. It is thought that this George Washington who married Polly Hunter, dtr of Samuel Hunter, was the son of John Crawford and maybe Susanna. For more information go the following link that has been set up for our study. This is a wonderful way to find connections, as I've found several of my own, (some totally unexpected) through male relatives. _http://www.familytreedna.com/public/crawford/_ (http://www.familytreedna.com/public/crawford/) This project has just started, but the more participants we get the faster we will find a match. As a female I can't participate other than paying for my cousin's test. In one of my lines I just started contacting other cousins, especially the females, and we actually got more money than we needed. I had to send some back. I'm not running this project and I can't quote prices here, but we do get a discounted rate from the one posted on the Family Tree DNA website. Give someone the gift of DNA for Christmas. And again, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. Ida Crawford Madison
Hello Everyone, I just had to share this: October 1824: "William Chapman came into open court and proved by the oath of Andrew Lark that his right ear was bitten off in a fight which he had with Levi Kirby on the day of the annual election in August 1824 at the house of Martin Shuford in Rutherford County NC and prays that it be entered into the records of this court" Was someone not happy with the election? Melody, My McAFEE ancestors left Rutherford Co. in the mid-1820s for GA, having won a gold mining claim in one of the GA Gold Lotteries (there were several in the 1820s). I've seen a book listing the various GA lottery winners at the Family History Library in Salt Lake, but it's probably available elsewhere. The McAFEEs were in Gwinnett Co., GA by the time of the 1830 Census. Might be worth a check if you don't find them in TN or KY. Hello, I was wondering if anyone had their families leave Rutherford between the years of 1825-1833, to head for TN or KY? I am trying (STILL) to find where my Wilkinsons went after leaving Rutherford. I last find Thomas Wilkinson in 1825 in Rutherford. His wife Anna Nowlin Wilkinson is head of household in Livingston County KY 1833. Thomas doesn't appear to have been in that county at all. Some of the Wilkinson grandchildren were born in TN 1827-1829. I believe that the Wilkinsons left with son in law and daughter William and Mary "Polly" Wilkinson McEntire. Anyone else they may have gone with? I have checked where Thomas's father Benjamin Wilkinson went to in TN (Franklin County), but no sign of Thomas. Anyone go to Monroe County TN? That is another possibility. ANY ideas are appreciated. Thanks! Melody

Hello Everyone, I had some time to do some researching the last few days in the deed books. I wrote down some deeds in my notebooks and they are posted on my family website. I am only able to add a few a day so there will be more in the future. I also wonder if anyone has gone thru the index and deed books on microfilm in depth? As I have been looking I have noticed some mistakes in the indexing and even omissions of names. There are also some pages which were not filmed of the deed books. I noticed when I have been looking thru the court records the clerk noted someone who came in to prove a deed, but I do not find that particular deed indexed. Also a land dispute of my Thomas Wilkinson which deals with land not in the index. I have been thinking of going thru each book to see if I can write a list of all deeds and someday compare it with the index. That would take a lot of time I don't have right now, but maybe someday...
