    2. Lynn E.Wesson
    3. I too am a descendant of Pleasant Fortune. His daughter Mary born ~1815 was my 3rd greatgrandmother. She married Alfred B. Owens 9/16/1844 in Rutherford Co., NC, and later moved to Union Co., SC. She died in 1862 and is buried at El Bethel Baptist in Cherokee Co., SC. Their son A. Judson Owens [b1852 in SC, d1915, buried at Rosemont Cemetery in Union Co., SC] married Mary Fowler---my 2nd greatgrandparents; their son Thomas Owens [b.1887 in Union Co., SC, d 1918; buried at Rosemont Cemetery also] married Carrie Lattimore--they were my greatgrandparents. Their daughter, Grace [b1909 in SC] is my grandmother---still living! She married Ray B. Wesson, Sr., who is deceased. Would love to share more info on the Fortune line. 3. I am seeking any additional information that you can provide about the parents/siblings of Pleasant Webb. Thanks a million. ============================================================= Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB was born about ca 1760-1765. His son, Elias, said that his father, Pleasant was born in Ireland (not substantiated). He died between 1830 and 1840 in Ohio, USA. Around 1800 Pleasant and family came in to the Ohio valley from Rutherford County, North Carolina. In 1803 (reported to be 45 years old) he was at the Licks in Scioto County, Ohio. Pleasant was in GreenupCounty, Kentucky in 1820 and in Lawrence County, Ohio in 1830. He did not appear in the 1840 census, so it is believed he died between 1830-1840. Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB and Unknown had the following children: James WEBB (1786), Elias WEBB (1788), Thomas Hanley WEBB (1795), Aden WEBB (1797), Temperance WEBB (1799), William WEBB (1801), Margaret WEBB (1806), Sarah (Sally) WEBB (1809), and Baker WEBB (1811). 2. Hello everyone, Today I found a deed of my Benjamin Wilkinson that had been indexed incorrectly. The signature was Benjamin White (indexed as Benjamin White), but the deed itself was for Benjamin Wilkinson. Deed Book32-33 page 274 November 30th 1820 No. 226 This indenture made this A. 1813 between Benjamin Wilkinson of the state of North Carolina, county of Rutherford of the one part and Jeremiah White of the same state and county aforesaid... 150 acres more or less lying & being in the county of Rutherford on the west side of First Broad River beginning at a white oak on the west bank of the river... Stake on Johnston's line, James White's corner.. Thence to the river at the mouth of the spring branch thence up the river with the various courses of the river to the beginning. Witnesses: Thomas Martin, John C. Boys Signed: Benjamin WHITE I THINK Johnston might be Daniel Johnston. Does anyone have any information on James White? The Wilkinsons were long time neighbors of the Whites (Peter, Isaac, Thomas). Also would like to know about John C. Boys (Is it Boice?). Benjamin Wilkinson's son Thomas had a land dispute with a Boys in the 1820s. Thanks, Melody

Do you know any of his kin? > > This James Shearer/Sherrer married a Nancy Allen. Have not been able to establish who she was or her relationship to John Allen b. 3 May 1754 and his wife Mary Davenport. Their daughter Nancy Allen born about 1792 married Elijah Morris, son of William and Sarah "Sally" Raburn Morris of Burke Co., NC, with bond dated 16 March 1811 Rutherford Co., NC, her brother Willis Allen bondsman. Elijah Morris and Nancy Allen Morris left Rutherford Co., NC and moved to Morengo Co., AL. By 1820 James Shearer and wife Nancy Allen Shearer and family moved to Buncombe Co., NC. Appear to have been followers of the charismatic Baptist preacher, Humphrey Posey. Seven children are listed, 4 males and 3 females, but I have only been able to identify 4 - Susan Shearer married Isaac Truet (Truet family living near the Shearer family in 1820 Buncombe Co., NC, also followers of Humphrey Posey. Truet family lived for a time between 1811 to 1817 in Rutherford Co., NC); James Allen Shearer b. 17 February 1812 Rutherford Co., NC married Eleanor "Ellen" DeHart, dau. of Nathan and Catharine Ramsey DeHart. Eleanor was born in Wayne Co., Ky., where it appears Nathan and Catharine Ramsey lived for a period after leaving Burke Co., NC, and before returning to live in Cherokee, Co., NC. One of their sons, William DeHart b. 1806, married a Sarah Lovelace. Jesse Shearer married Margaret Queen who was born about 1810 Rutherford Co., NC. Wiley Shearer born about 1815 married a Catharine-----. James Shearer appears on the 1840 Cherokee Co., NC census as head of household. He and his wife are listed as being 60 to under 70 years old at that time. James Shearer appears on the 1850 Cherokee Co., NC census, living in the household of one of his grandsons, Lorenzo Shearer and his family. James is listed as age 76, making his birth approximately 1774. The son James Allen Shearer and his wife Eleanor DeHart appear to have lived in Union Co., GA for a period. Thier son James M. Shearer was born there 7 July 1838. The family then returned to Cherokee Co, NC. James M. Shearer, appears to be active in the Baptist church faith also, and involved in the church led by Rev. John Finger Pendergrass, whose wife was Lois Elmyra Reel - bond 30 December 1841 Burke Co., NC. They lived in Macon and then Cherokee Co., NC after they married. About 1865, Rev. John Finger Pendergrass and his family returned to McDowell Co., NC. James M. Shearer appears to have accompanied them from Cherokee Co., NC at that time, marrying their daughter, Martha J. Pendergrass, b. 15 December 1842. The marriage bond dated 30 July 1866 McDowell Co., NC - bondsman J. H. Reel (Martha's cousin). James M. and Martha J. Pendergrass Shearer then moved back to Cherokee and then Clay Co., NC. Charmaine Ernst
