    1. Looking for Harroll, Herrell, Harrall etc. in W. NC
    2. G. Lee Hearl
    3. To All: Because Rowan Co., NC was broken to many counties, I have been unable to determine which counties my Herrell, Harroll ancesters may have lived in. I know there were two men named Hugh Harroll, Herrell etc. living in western in NC in 1790 and a John and William. I am hoping to find anyone who is connected to either of these men. My line appears in Burke Co about 1800 to 1810, however, there must be others out there besides ME somewhere! Thanks, G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.

    2. G. Lee Hearl
    3. Donna Fisher: Believe we have been in contact earlier, however, your Housand (Housen) Harroll, Harrill line comes from Bedford Co., Va. and earlier, from Prince William and Fauquier counties VA. Housen Harroll, Harrill was s/o Gilbert Harroll, Harrill who settled in Bedford co., Va. and Gilbert was s/o James Harroll, Harrill of Prince William and Fauquier co., Va.. This line of the Harroll, Harrill, Harrell etc. families goes back to Northumberland and Lancaster co., Va. as early as 1650. Hope this helps you some! G. 1. Roll Call-Drury Byars
    2. Susan Johanson
    3. My Rutherford Co. ancestor was Drury Byars (c 1808-1845) who may have been son of Nathan Byars. He was in Rutherford Co. in the 1830 census living near Abraham Byars, but he later moved to Union Co. SC and died there in 1845. I think that Drury's wife Matilda and two of her children were listed in the household of Abraham Byars in the 1850 census. I would love to know the relationship between Drury and Abraham Byars. Were they just cousins or could they have been brothers? Susan -- --- Susan C. 1. Re: [NCRUTHER-L] Rollcall - Goode, Hudlow, Hasty, Ledbetter, Whiteside(s), Co...
    2. I am also researching the Whiteside surname. John Washington Harris married Sarah Whiteside in ca 1816 Rutherford County. His brother, Zaddock Harris was married to Mary Ledbetter and lived in Harris, Rutherford County, NC. My husband and I visited the Zaddock Harris home which is still in the Harris family and the cemetery across the road from the house. Mary's brother, Richard Ledbetter, III is buried there as well as Zaddock and Mary Harris and many of their descendants. John and Zaddock's father was James Harris who was supposed to be married to a Spivey but I have not been able to prove that as she was deceased at the time of his death in 1829. And James' parentage is in question. Connie Bradshaw

    3. there have been a large number of emails this morning labeled ROLL CALL. It would be a HUGE help if everyone would list one or more of their surnames in the subject line. I, and others, get a tremendous volume of email. We don't have the time (or inclination) to open up each and every one. When you get 200+ a day, it's quite a hardship. If there is a surname in the subject line it will attact our attention and we might be able to give you a big boost in your searches. Happy hunting! 2. I am researching: Philbeck, Lovelace, Wilkerson/Wilkinson, Dycus, Davis, Dixon, Green, Wright, Roach, Allen, Atkinson, Camp, Owens, Arms, McMurry,, Whisnant/Whistnant, Melton. I am trying to find my husband's GG grandfather's parents. His name was Elcanah Davis. He married Drusilla Owens. Drusilla's father was Jonas Owens. Elcanah was living with Catharine Davis, age 40, in 1850, in Rutherford Co. He is listed as Elcanney. He was born in 1826. Drusilla was born 1830-31. Living next door to Catharine Davis, is another Catharine Davis, age 80. They are living in the same area as Simon Davis's line. In or near the Wall's community. I just can't find where any of Simon's son's has had a son named Cain. I have looked for all of Simon Davis's sons and found their wives, who happened not to be named Catharine. Any help with this , would greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kim

    2. In a message dated 2/10/2005 11:16:58 AM Eastern Standard Time, NCRUTHER-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: My data disagrees with this.... I do have Delphia Hardin married to James Bridges, but then I have her married to Berry HAMRICK, not Lovelace. This data is from "The Hamrick Generations". I have Berry Allison Lovelace, the youngest son of Asa and Susannah Hardin Lovelace, married to Mary E. Bridges 4 Jan 1866, I would assume in Cleveland Co. Mary was the daughter of Caleb and Nancy Young Bridges and was the sister of Martha Susannah Bridges, the second wife of Robert "Robbin" Green. Berry and Mary's children were Cicero Columbus Lovelace, b. 3 Apr 1867, and Burwell Victor Lovelace, b. 3 Feb 1869. Asa Lovelace was one of three Lovelace brothers who are thought to have come into Rutherford Co. in the early 1800s from Maryland via Spartanburg Co., SC. The boys Asa, Nathan, and Benjamin are thought to be sons of Barton and Lucy Watson Lovelace. There is possibly a fourth son, Samuel, who resided in Spartanburg Co., SC. Barton is believed to be the same Bartin Lovlis who is listed as a 19yo in the home of Benjamin (b. 1727) and Sarah Lovlis in Montgomery Co., MD in the 1776 census. Hope this helps.... Greg, It helped me! Anything helps me! LOL We got A LOT of lines-roots. And William Lovelace's father, was Asa? I have heard/saw the name Lewis Green. I will look through my stuff and see what I can find. Could he have went by another name?
