Thanks to Nicole who sent me off list the parentage of Martin Hoffner, SR. who is George Hoffner and the will of Martin Hoffner, SR. and the information from Germany to Rowan County and their membership at Organ Lutheran Church. Martin Hofffner, SR. sister married a Hartman but we don't know who he is. In Martin Hoffner's will in 1841 it names the following: Wife: Catharine Sons: George, Martin, JR, Henry and John (John is my grandfather married Catharine Powles. Daughters: Katharine Earnhart, Polly Morgan, Paga Powles (Catharine), Susanna Earnhart, Sara Braddy, Christina Brady, Rachel, Leah, and Elizabeth Morgan (estate of her aunt Elizabeth Hartman.).... Would anyone know who Elizabeth Hartman is ? Sounds like she must be a sister to Martin Hoffner, Sr. Marianne Dillow marianne dillow wrote: I am working on my brick walls in Rowan County. My 5th great grandparents are Martin Hoffner, SR. who married Catharine Troutman. I have the Troutman line but am trying to find Martin Hoffner, SR's parents. As the story goes Martin, SR was born October in Germany and immigrated and landed in Philadelphia ca 1762 when he was 3 years old and moved to Rowan County when he was 9 years old. There was a Bible written in German. He had a son Martin Hoffner, JR who shouldn't be confused with Martiin SR. So, Martin Hoffner, SR would have arrived in Rowan County ca 1768. I descend from Martin Hoffner's son John Hoffner who married Catharine Powlwes daughter of John Adam Powless and Mary Dillow who is the daughter of Michael Hartman Dillow and Margaretha Holshouser. Martin Hoffner, SR died in Rowan County ca 1841. Would anyone know if there were other early Hoffner's in the area that could be Martin Hoffner, SR's father ? Any info would greatly be appreciated.
