Rowan County, North Carolina Tax Lists, 1757-1800, Jo White Linn Annotated Transcriptions Does anyone chance have this book? I wondered how it was arranged and how much information it gave that would help on the location of the property being taxed....and if it were indexed so that "neighbors" would show up. I'm trying to figure out what happened to the land that Frederick Miller deeded to his Jacob Grimes grandchildren in 1789. (Jacob Grimes married Catherine Miller) When the Jacob Grimes left NC and went to TN, there is no deed of sale (or at least I've not found it!). BUT, somebody must have been paying the taxes on the land,and I thought maybe we could trace it that way. This land was on Farmer's Creek - Abbott's Creek area. The eldest daughter, Mary, who married Jacob Smith, is someone we have never tracked, and I thought perhaps her family took over the land. If anyone has done Tax work in Rowan Co, I'd appreciate some tips.
