I have been told that my David Julian/Julan/Julien (b.1771-74) purchased on 21 April 1797 a lot near the square of what would become the town of Lexington, NC--it was at that time part of Rowan Co. but later would become Davidson Co. NC. It contains a puzzling misspelling of tailor (spelled taylor) and the question in my mind is whether that misspelling reflects his occupation or his middle name. Land was purchased from Michael Beard. 3 months later David sold the lot to John Wright and bought 176 acres from Wright. I need to get a photocopy of that first actual court record to see the original wording regarding "tailor" or "Taylor." Where would I get it? Is it possible that the Rowan History Room would have it on film? I have had excellent luck with the genealogists there in helping me find other records. Or would the library in Lexington NC be a better source? I am having a little trouble navigating the NC network with these recent changes. Betty Pace
