    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JosephEvans413 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.rowan/12342.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It is more of being allied than related, for instance in the 1850 and 1860 Cabarrus County, N.C. censuses John Faggart is a farmer and is listed with his wife and children, withthe oldest being Daniel Faggart.....Anyway at the last line of this f amily are listed Joel House, mulatto, laborer, and Andrew Reid,Black, also a laborer. Notice this is 1850 and 1860 with slavery still going on. Joel and Andrew are classified as free persons of color. Joel HOuse? Believed to be my greatgrandfather. He later married to Kaziah and according to 1870 the residence of these persons are in Rowan County, in Providence and in Gold Hill. Joel and Kaziah had four sons: Josiah, Monroe, Martin, and Jackson John. The latter was my grandfather who married my grandmother Martha Ellen Crowell. These folks lived in Gold Hill between 1870 snd to about 1950. It is the House name that has been in my family for a long time. Joel was also classified as free person in the 1840s. Somewhere along with this my belief is that he may have been connected with Elias House, Jacob House, Sophia House, and others. Goodman: I knew of a Mrs. Goodman who lived in Gold Hill when I used to visit Gold Hill in the early 1950s. My sister and her family used to live in Gold Hill and my sister knew a Mrs. Goodman as well. Never knew her first name.
