Ninian was 58 and his wife Esther was 50. My great grandfather Walter B. was 20, a ditto mark indicates his occupation was the same as his 23 year old brother, Andr. M, it appears to be Nitter, but could be Miller. In 1860 Iredell, Williamberg P.O., Ninian & Esther are on line 10 in dwelling 462, family 443. Only two daughters remain in the household - Elizabeth and Catherine. Walter and wife Loretta are in Caldwell KY then. And by the 1880 census, on page No. 13, dist. 1, Enumeration dist. No. 163, his household includes his 58 year old sister Elizabeth (evidently never married) along with my grandfather Robert A Steele, then aged 13. I have wondered if James Steele of Iredell's 1860 census could have been a brother to Ninian, because of the 4 year old daughter named Esther. But I have no idea who Ninian's parents were.
