They followed my GG-Grandfather George Forbis one the two first settlers west of the Yadkin River in present day Yadkin Co. NC into this area, George Forbis came in from the Roanoke Va area with Morgan Bryan (Daniel Boone's wife Rebecca Bryan's grandfather) they started south from Pa and came down the Shenandoah Valley. George Fobis and Morgan Bryan went from Maryland to Pa, then to present day West Virginia, then to Salem/Roanoke Va area, then to the mouths of present day Forbush Creek and Deep Creek where they enter the Yadkin River in Yadkin Co. NC. My Adams and Huff (Hough) ancestors arrived at the New Garden MM in what was to become Guilford County in 1755 from Chester Co. Pa. The Adams also came down the Shenandoah Valley, but spent part of one year at New Bedford, Va where GG-aunt Jean Adams was born, before moving on down to the New Garden MM area. The Boones came to the area west of the Yadkin River in the fall of 1750 to present day Davie County, NC they also came from Pa. They were preceeded by the Forbis (Forbush). Bryan, Creason and Davis Families to the area there were no European settlements west of the Yadkin River in NC in this area until the arrival of Morgan Bryan and George Forbis. Ray Parker <in reply to> A further issue regarding land. The town of "Old Salem" North Carolina was settled by German Moravians, one of whom, I believe, had purchased a large tract of land, located now in what is generally Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Not Quakers, but another indicator. ==== QUAKER-ROOTS Mailing List ==== YOUR GENEALOGY DATA IS AT RISK--IS YOUR COMPUTER VIRUS-INFECTED?
