From the wills (1781) of Thomas Biles and Elizabeth Biles in Rowan County, I have been able to trace my lineage from Rowan Co., NC to Clay Co., TN, i.e. Daniel Biles' son John who married Cathy Walton and took up land first in Wilson Co., TN then in Clay Co., TN on Trace Creek. Through which child of Daniel Biles and Jean Conger do you descend? (I have much information on our Congers.) In your posting, you state that our Thomas Biles (a wheelwright), who left a will in Rowan Co., NC (probated 1784) was the son of a John Biles. You did not identify which John Biles. John Biles was a very popular name, and there are many. Who is the mother of our grandsire Thomas Biles (will Rowan Co. 1784)? What is his wife's maiden name? Bryan Biles, who attempted to chronicle grandsire Tommy Biles' ancestors, in his book "The Biles Family, How Green Was Our Valley" suggests that William or Charles Biles, who came to America 4th June 1679 from All Saints Parrish, Dorcester, Dorset County ENG, was his ancestor. Without a Bible record, a legal document, or some written proof, this was still speculation. Many have spent a lifetime searching for the link between our Biles Rowan Co., NC family and the famous ones by that name who made the history books, such as William Biles (a noted Quaker preacher).
