    3. I am looking for a needle in a hay stack... Wondering if any one has any info on Joseph WATKINS with wife Fanney Unknown. Reason I give her name as Fanney, on Joseph's will, it is the way written. But most likely it could have been Fannie or Fanny... etc.. I have them in Pendleton District, South Carolina, in the 1820 census and this is where Joseph died in 1827. I found possibilites for Joseph in the 1790 and 1800 Surry County, North Carolina. But can't be sure it is him and family. The 1810 Montgomery Co. NC does not fit for Joseph and family. In my research of this family, daughter Cassey WATKINS married Jacob FRICKS. He was born about 1780 in Rowan Co. NC. Jane WATKINS married an unknown DEMRY. Alcey WATKINS married George Washington EDMONDSON. Esther WATKINS married John FRICKS. John was born about 1796 Rowan Co. NC Frances WATKINS married Mathias FRICKS. Mathias was born bef. 1774 in Rowan Co. NC. I have conflicting info on these FRICKS and WATKINS. It appears that most or all of them were married prior to marrying the WATKINS gals and it appears it was the gals first marriage. The surname WATKINS is also spelled WADKINS and have found the surname FRICKS spelled as FRICK and FRIX. Could have been spelled other way I have not found as yet. I have put all of this down here on the children of Joseph and Fanney WATKINS to show they had to been in Rowan Co. NC. It appears the ones that married FRICKS men were all married in Rowan Co. NC. I have failed to find their marriage records. All of them by 1820 census were in Pendleton District, South Carolina. I have other indications from WATKINS in Pendleton District, SC, the Watkins came from North Carolina. Some born there also. I am thinking Joseph and Fanney were born in NC or at least married there and most likely around Rowan Co. area. If any one has any info on Joseph and Fanney, I would sure appreciat it. Have been researching this family for quite some time and just can not see to find anything diffinate on them, in NC. Thank you Cathy

    3. Hi there... Second part of my WATKINS post deals with Thomas WATKINS and Margaret EDWARDS. On Joseph WATKINS will of 1827 Pendleton District he names a son Thomas. In our research on these WATKINS, what we have put together, Thomas WATKINS lived next door to Joseph in the 1820 Pendleton District, SC census or was next to him in writing the census down at least. Putting bits and pieces of info together we think this is the son listed on Joseph's will. Best we can figure, Thomas was born Bet. 1767 - 1770 in North Carolina. He married an unknown gal about 1787 probably in North Carolina and could have been in Rowan Co. NC. We think by 1800 Thomas was in Pendleton District SC on the census, He was wife was 26-45 years old. They had 2 males -10 years old, 3 Females -10 years old and 2 Females 10-16 years old. Then by June 10, 1801 Thomas marries Margaret EDWARDS in Pendleton District SC. Thomas and family is not found on the 1810 census there. He is found on the 1820 census at Pendleton District SC. . All children from previous marriage are gone and all that is left is children by Thomas and Margaret. I have not been able to find any of Thomas' children by 1st. wife in any records. South Carolina is a hard place to find info. It has been a while since I have did extensive research on my WATKINS. So am quite rusty on the details. But when I last did research on them, I did find some other WATKINS in Rowan county in the 1700 time period. But never could find enough on them to tie them to Joseph WATKINS or Thomas WATKINS. Any help would sure be appreciated.. Thank you Cathy
