The surname was originally BARTH ("Bart" is German for "beard", so this is a reasonable anglicization). My interest in this family is primarily in the ZEVELY connection, and I haven't researched them personally, so what I'm showing here is all second-hand information and not verified. It would appear that they came to NC from Pennsylvania. He deeded a tract of land to the German Lutheran Church of Salisbury to establish a church and a graveyard there. He is certainly buried there himself, but neither his grave nor that of his daughter can be located, and the name of the daughter is unknown.
