    3. Reminder -- First ever meeting of the Trading Ford Area Historic Preservation Committee will be Wednesday, March 26, 2003 7:00 p.m. Rowan Public Library Stanback Auditorium 201 West Fisher Street Salisbury, NC Of immediate concern are historic areas threatened by I-85 expansion: - the Trading Path (used by Native Americans, perhaps thousands of years old) - the Yadkin Ford & Ferry (dating from 1755) - the Camp Yadkin Battlefield (Civil War, April 12, 1865) - the Trading Ford Monument (1929) commemorating Gen. Greene's crossing at the Trading Ford (Revolutionary War) Long-term goals include preservation planning for this historic area. Good (long) article in Sunday's Salisbury Post including a range of opinions: http://salisburypost.townnews.com/archives/index.inn?loc=detail&doc=/2003/March/23-165-23-1%20trading%20ford%20fight.txt YA'LL COME! Let's take a stand for our historic sites! Please note if coming from Lexington: the main exit from I-85 to Salisbury (East Innes Street) Exit 76B doesn't exist presently, and there are no signs. Use Exit 76A (marked Albemarle), go down the exit ramp, and turn left onto East Innes Street.
