    1. [NCRowan] HOPING FOR HELP ON EARLY WEAVERS
    2. Bill and Patty Coleman
    3. Hi list. Below is some information I've gathered in my 3 year search for the parents of CATARINA WEAVER KIMEL. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has more information that might help me. Thanks from Mexico, Patty Descendants of Christian Weaver Generation No. 1 1. CHRISTIAN1 WEAVER Notes for CHRISTIAN WEAVER: This is just a guess. Am hoping that the family can be traced to Lancaster County, PA. Because Patty's g-g-g-g-grandparents, Bernhard and Catherine Weaver Kimel named two of their children CHRISTIAN and CHRISTINA, it seems likely that Catherine's grandfather might have been named CHRISTIAN WEAVER. Catherine's brother was named CHRISTIAN, too. Child of CHRISTIAN WEAVER is: 2. i. JACOB2 WEAVER. Generation No. 2 2. JACOB2 WEAVER (CHRISTIAN1) He married CATARINA. Notes for JACOB WEAVER: For three years, Patty has been searching on and off for the parents of Catherine Weaver Kimel. In October, 2002, Stephanie Harrison info@conquestmusic.com sent the following: I have a JACOB WEAVER on the list which Betty Pace sent to the Rowan board for "The 38 Nonjurors (Tories) reported in Capt (Eagle's) District in 1778." Betty found in the LDS film of the papers of Mamie McCubbins (families EAgles to Epting... LDS film 0019852). Stephanie says that these people were not necessarily tories as some remained neutral during the rev war... especially the Leatherman's. Jonah and Christian Leatherman are also on this list. In Abstracts of Deed Books 11-14, page 87 of Rowan County, North Carolina 1786-1797 by James W. Kluttz, is: JACOB WEAVER deed #1839, page 104, 15 Nov 1791. Joseph Cunningham to Jacob Weaver for 30 pounds specie, 127 A on N Fork of Reedy Crk; part of a 320 A State grant to this Grantor (09:367). Wit: Hugh Cunningham. Prvd by Hugh Cunningham at Ct 9 Feb 1793. The 1790 fed. census of Rowan County, NC shows JACOB WEAVER with 2 men, 2 boys and 2 women. JACOB's name does not appear on the 1800 ROWAN federal census. This might indicate that the JACOB WEAVER who died in 1799 and is buried at BEAULAH REFORMED CHURCH CEMETERY (about 5 mi. NW of Lexington, NC, Davidson County) is the father of CATARINA. ROW 8, #8: CHRISTIAN WEAVER, d. Sept. 24, 1836 ROW 16, #7: "Year 1799 CADARINA WEWER Tesiset (died) Ocdober the 12, 1799" (Catherine Weaver d. 12 Oct 1799) ROW 16, #8 "Ano 1799 JACOB WEWER d. Oct 11, 1799 (Jacob Weaver). It is troubling that CADARINA WEWER and JACOB WEWER died only one day apart. Could be parent and child, could be couple who died of something like typhoid. In 1810 there is a JACOB WEAVER in ROWAN, in 1820 in ROWAN, in1830 in DAVIDSON, in 1850 in Davidson. Children of JACOB WEAVER and CATARINA are: 3. i. CATHERINE3 WEAVER, b. October 8, 1771; d. August 8, 1846. ii. JACOB WEAVER (Source: Early Pilgrim German Records.), m. ELIZABETH. iii. GEORGE WEAVER. Generation No. 3 3. CATHERINE3 WEAVER (JACOB2, CHRISTIAN1) (Source: Early Pilgrim German Records.) was born October 8, 1771 (Source: Cemetery Records of Davidson County, NC.), and died August 8, 1846 (Source: Cemetery Records of Davidson County, NC.). She married BERNHARD/BARNABAS KIMEL, son of GEORG KIMEL and CATHERINE. He was born 1770 in Rowan County, NC, and died 1837. Notes for CATHERINE WEAVER: Not much progress has been made on the ancestors of Catherine Weaver. Here's what Patty has so far: 1768 Index NC BARNEY WEAVER, Rowan County -- info. from Vickie Weber macloud@TRANSPORT.COM 1787 Rowan County Tax List of Capt. Bumgarner, page 258 by Jo White Linn. Trentham's COMPPY - as KIMLING, BARNABAS, HILL, WILLIAM, HILL, JAMES, HILL, GEORGE, HILL SARA:H, PICKEL, ANTHONY and PICKEL FELTZ, all intermarried families. page 36: THOMAS WEAVER From Stephanie at info@conquestmusic.com: ... YULOUALA (BARRIER) married CHRISTIAN WEAVER. CHRISTIAN married 2nd CATY LEATHERMAN 11 Dec. 1813. GEORGE WEAVER bondsman. Since CATHERINE WEAVER KIMEL and her hsuband named two of their children CHRISTIAN and CHRISTINA, Patty has assumed that the CHRISTIAN WEAVER of the 1815 ROWAN TAX LIST was the brother of CATHERINE. His first marriage could well have been about the same time as CATHERINE's to BARNABAS KIMEL. GEORGE WEAVER, the bondsman mentioned above could well be CATHERINE and CHRISTIAN's brother. Looking at the names of CATHERINE's children we see a child named JACOB which could tie back to JACOB WEAVER on the 1787 ROWAN TAX LIST. There is a GEORGE WEAVER listed in Lampeter, Lancaster, PA in 1722. Father: JOHANNES WEBER, Mother: BARBARA EICHER. From Diana in Indianapolis, referring to a book about Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lexinton, NC compiled and indexed by Mrs. G. David Koch, pub. 1968... On page 42 there is a note sahying this list had no heading or date. From the names and handwriting it was evidently before 1802. The names in brackets are the names as they appear in today's usage as suggested by Henry Reeves. They are not a part of the translation by Miller and Morgan. The following list includes GEORG WEVEL (Weaver) and JACOB WEVEL (WEAVER, CATH. WEVEL (Weaver) as well as CATH. MAYER (Myers). CATH. MYERS is the mother of BARNABAS KIMEL says Patty. We know that the Weavers were members of this church and later joined the Moravians. Notes for BERNHARD/BARNABAS KIMEL: Notes from Dan Kimel: Attended Pilgrim Union Church in Rowan County, NC From Moravian Journal at North Carolina--May 18, 1837 Friedberg, The Kimmling family was visited, where at 2am the old Bernhard Kimmling had died. May 19--At the request of the family to hold the funeral, I rode at midday to the burial place at the Eder home 4 miles from Friedberg, and after the burial I preached in English out of doors in front of the house to a large company.
