Her name was Lula Florence Stewart (Stuart?), daughter of James J. Stewart and Laura Elizabeth McDaniel (daughter of Asbury McDaniel and Martha Ann Gardner). Supposedly, Lula Florence was born in Stokes County, NC, 8/4/1883. I seem to remember at one time hearing the family may have migrated from Pennsylvania, but cannot trace any information backward past Lula Florence’s parents’ names, her date of birth, and her maternal grandparents' names. Siblings of Lula Florence were Joseph Asbury (b. 2/26/1887) and David William Columbus (b. 2/7/1882), but don’t know where family was living at the time of their births either. Know they eventually came to settle in either Rowan or Cabarrus Counties, N.C., where Lula Florence Stewart Cook and her brother, Joseph A. Stewart, were living when I was born, and for the remainder of their lives. Anyone having any information about the James J. Stewart family in N.C.
