    1. [NCRowan] JOHN POOL Land & Will of WILLIAM F. HORAH
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. Is anyone researching the HORAH family of Rowan Co., NC; they used to be a prominent family in Salisbury. I need the will of William F. Horah, but I don't know the date except that it was probably back in the 1800s. I don't know what the connection is between John Pool and William F. Horah--maybe nothing except this piece of land, whatever it is.. In going through the film of the McCubbins papers for JOHN POOL, I found this entry: HEADING; JOHN POOL (NORTH FORK OF CRANE CREEK) "See the will of WILLIAM F. HORAH for part of the following tract which was called the CALIFORNIA LAND, begin N. B. McCanless, Cotton Mill & other land on Gallows Branch &e. It may be traced through the sale, by JOHN WADDEL, back to the grant of HUGH WADDELL." "Book 19. page 439: Jan. 31 1806, Conrad BRAM/BREM/BROM--no wife signs--lets ARCHIBALD HENDERSON (both of Rowan Co NC) have 428 acres on the north fork of Crane Creek on the Salisbury town line next Dr. Anthony Newman, Albert Torrence, old line of ___ WADDELL, Judge Macoy___Horah & ___BEATAMAN, for 1000 pounds, witnessed and proved by Matthew Troy." These two entries are typed on the same piece of paper and below on the same sheet is the division of the estate of my DAVID L. POOL, son of JOHN POOL (d.1832). All of these must be related in some sense. I know from these same McCubbins papers, that Archibald Henderson sold a plot of land to my JOHN POOL in 1820, and I think this is the same piece of property. I have no idea what the "California Land" is. Betty Pace
