Was Solomon Raper and Solomon Roper one and the same? No, I am not quite clear as yet. A Solomon Rape married Elizabeth Manlove in Rowan County, N.C. 12 October 1811. Peter Rape and Mary Shofner 25 Sept. 1779 David Raper and Sally Kimball 8 April 1825 A Solomon Roper voted in Burke County in 1835 and then he shows no more on the census. Also, A Jacob Raper shows in Knox County, Tenn. 1810 as one poll. A Jacob Raper is in Haywood County, N.C. in 1820 and A Jacob Raper voted in Macon County, N.C. in 1835(The Valley River Section, present day Cherokee County, N.C. I think he had a mill there. He does not show on census after that, either. I and Anna Lois McHan worked Roper and Tallent for L. David here in Macon County, N.C. There were a lot of loose ends and persons that I didn't know how to fit in. Some were spelled Raper and some were Roper. I, too, feel that they are one big family. Thanks for replying. I will enjoy checking out the sites you have given me.
