My grgrgrandfather, Joseph Asbury Rhodes was married to Nancy Merrell. Prior to the time the two married, this Rhodes line was in Buncome county, NC. Later they were included in Henderson county when it was formed from Buncombe and Rutherford. Do you think there might be a connection with our families? My 4Xgrgrandfather was supposedly from England and arrived in America 1745/50. I have very little info on him but one of his sons, Daniel Rhodes - my 3X - settled in that section of NC and the family pretty much stayed put. I do know that the Merrell/Merrill line came to Rowan county from New Jersey and were in fact called the "New Jersey Boys" but I've not connected Nancy Merrell with a particular member of that family.
