These are mark with a * (If you use this information please give me the credit for finding it.) Any information is welcome. The first 4 children were listed as children of William and Mary Pinkston. So we know that William was married to a Mary and is the mother of these 4 children (as named in will.) Also in record was mention 4 more children,( named in will ) but it did not state they were the children of William and Mary Pinkston. (Only of William) This makes me think Mary has died and William has remarried. On the 1800 Census Rowan Co.,N.C. is listed 2 males age under ten. These could be his boys or his grandchildren. More in likely grandchildren as they were not mention in will or they died before will was made. The bible record only had these 8 children listed. I received the record from a Mrs.J.D.Greene 2015 Abby Lane,Memphis,TN. She said the original papers from the Pinkston Bible belongs to a cousin who lived in Covington,Tn. Mrs.Greene did not see the bible. The person who had the bible was descendents of William's son Turner Pinkston. I contacted Mrs.James Russell 506 Peterson Lake Road,Collierville,Tn., who's address was on copy at the Nashville Archives in Nashville,Tn. This was in 1979. She didn't have the original record, only a copied like I had. She said that Lady Lois Pinkston b.March 25,1887 in Tipton Co.,Tn. had the bible. I have been unable to locate her or anyone that knows where the bible could be. 1800-1817 Vols. 7,8,9, C 085 - 30005 Court of Pleads Rowan Co. N.C. pg. 394 Thurs. Monday Feb. 16,1818 William Pinkston had a daughter named Mary (Polly) Pinkston. She was not listed in Bible Record. If you look close at the original will you will see the name Mary.(Polly) A guardian was appointed Polly when William Pinkston died.(I could not find guardian for the other young children.) Rowan Co.Estate papers (CR 854 081116).Thomas Craige appointed 16 July 1818 to Feb.1824. She married Micheal Swisher Mar.4,1824 Rowan County,N.C. This leads me to think she was not the daughter of Ann Phifer.. William Pinkston married Ann Phifer 1802. They had two children, Joshua who went to Missouri and Eleanor. This wife is mention in will as well as the children. When William died I could not find any guardianship papers for them. It appears their mother was their guardian. Ann Pinkston lived with her daughter Eleanor who married Richard Rocket. She was on the 1850 Burke Co.,N.C. Census. Joshua married a Polly McKimmy, he was listed on the 1850 Census Franklin,Mo. Ann Pinkston was not with her daughter on the 1860. This leads me to believe she died between 1850 and 1860 in Burke Co.,N.C. I went to the North Carolina Archives and had every orginal copy of a William Pinkston marriage copied so I could compare signatures. This is my personal opinion. 1. William Pinkston married a Margaret Adams 1790 Strokes Co.,N.C.. 2. William Pinkston married a Endosia Biles 1792 Rowan Co.,N.C.(this is William Pinkston's son William that is mention in will, Meshach Pinkston signed as witness) 3. William Pinkston married a Margaret Enlow 1796 Rowan Co.,N.C.( I feel this is the same William Pinkston who's will was dated 1815.And this is the mother of Polly Pinkston. Polly named one of her daughter's Margaret. William's son William signed the marriage bond.) 4. William Pinkston married a Ann Phifer 1802 Rowan Co.,N.C. She was named in William's will and is the mother of Joshua and Eleanor.) William must of married her soon after Polly (Mary) Pinkston's mother died as Polly was born around 1801 or 1802. 5. William Pinkston married a Peggy Coughenour 1821 Rowan Co.,N.C. This is William's son William. The signature on this bond matches #2 above. I come to the conclusion William's children #1-4 was wife Mary's children as mention in Bible records. Could not find record of any William married to a Mary in N.C. (1756 to 1766 ) 1.Meshack b. 13 Sept.1756, 2. Rebecca(Vinah) 2 Dec.1758, 3.Peter 20 Sept. 1763, 4.Ann I come to the conclusion William's children #5-8 was another wife's children. Someone he married around 1768 or 1769.(1769 to 1776 ) 5. William Jr. 6. Ruth 21 June 1771 7. David 17 Dec 1773 8. Turner I come to the conclusion that William's daughter #9.Mary/Polly was Margaret Enlow's daughter.(1796 to 1801) 1801 deed states William Pinkston Sr.; wits.Meshach, and William (this is his son) William married Ann Phifer and they were the parents of Joshua and Eleanor. (1802 to William's death 1815.) McCubbins Collection Book 11 page 561; July 11,1788, The State grants (#1649 at 50 shillings the 100 acres) to William Pinkston 250 acres on top of a hill on the north side of Streight Creek, crossing a branch also crossing the west fork of Straight Creek William Pinkston original will Rowan County,North Carolina JB 217-218 Vol.18-20 1743-1868 In 1768 William's mark was WP Land Grant #1647 Jan 9,1780 1790 Census Rowan Co,North Carolina Salisbury Dist. pg.176 William Pinkston 1797 Census Rowan Co.North Carolina William Pinkston Not being sure of Mary (Polly) Pinkston birth date as it could of been 1801 or 1802 and that was the time William married Ann Phifer, she may be Mary (Polly) Pinkston's mother. But being that Polly (Mary) Pinkston named her daughter Margaret leans toward Polly being Margaret Enlow's daughter. If she was Ann's daughter why was she not appointed a guardian to Polly? ???????? Children of William Pinkston and Margaret (?) are: ( Lois Spurrier Glasgow's Line) i. Under 10 (1800 Census) Pinkston ii. Male Under 10 (1800 Census) Pinkston 219 iii. Polly Pinkston, born Abt. 1801/1802; died Abt. 1849 in Rowan County, North Carolina; married Michael Swisher 04 March 1824 in Salisbury, North Carolina.
