Surnames: Trewhitt,Cary Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0VB.2ACI/4774.4779.5172.5331 Message Board Post: Mary,interested in what you may know regarding one of Thomas Cary's cohorts in the Cary Rebellion,one Levi Trewhitt spelled various ways.He is my earliest NC relation and I am trying to develop where in England where he came from and more of his bg.My family believes he was French Huguenot,which Cary could have been.He along with Cary,and several others were sent back to England for trial once the Rebellion ended,actually it never really got off the ground.He was acquitted along with Cary and returned to Nc just North of New Bern vs Bath where he originally was located.He was a court recorder up to about 1710,may have had his own ship.I understand when Cary returned to Nc after acquittal he settled into a quiet lifestyle unlike earlier when he was a well to do merchant from Chas SC before becoming the depty governor in the Bath area around 1706.
