I'm thinking he is more likely to be a cousin. Do you have anything on brother's to your Ninian Steele? N.W. Steele was also living in Bucksnort, Caldwell, KY on 1870 Census. He is also buried there in Dorr, or Orange Cemetery. I'm posting a link to findagrave.com. Someone posted N.W. Steele's grave info. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GSln=steele&GSfn=n&GSmn=w&GSbyrel=in&GSdyrel=in&GSob=n&CRid=2210958&pt=Dorr Cemetery& According to this Walter B, and N.W. are only days apart in age. However, I have seen both death records, and tomb records that are wrong. Also, someone had posted marriage info for you on another post. It does suggest that N.W. is from Iredell Co., NC. Working on the family of Ninian W Steele b Aug 6, 1829 North Carolina. Wherever Ninian, or his childern go Walter B Steele is nearby, but there is no direct connection that I can find. I was going through all census in Iredell, county census for 1850. I, am thinking he is related somehow, cousin maybe? On 1858 birth records for Caldwell County, KY. Ninian W, and Eliza J McElroy have daughter Mary E born in Mar. Ninian Lee Walter's son is on next line born in Dec. I looked for Ninian W Steele on 1880 Census in Caldwell Co., on 1880 census, the only child I found was Mary E she was married to a Dennis, and living in Christian Co., KY. They moved to Henderson Co., around 1890's. Living with her is Humphery Lee Steel on 1910 census right before she died in 1910 he is listed as brother. Have you seen any other records for N W Steele that I don't have yet? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Even though the name appers to be Watta B Steele, it is more likely Walter. The fact that Walter's future wife, Loretta Elliott is only a few more lines further down, on the neighboring farm makes it even more likely that my great granddad was listed twice in 1850 census. Once here with his employer, who was perhaps his uncle, and once with his parents Ninian and Esther Steele. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. You mention that John had a brother named Joseph. I have been at a brick wall for several years with John and Mary. I have NO information on John and Mary's parents or siblings. This is the first time I have read that John had brother. I did have data on Joseph and Thomas but had no data of their connection to each other or to my John. This is the first I have heard that John Avery, Jr. (1767 - 1845) father was John, Sr. and mother was Polly Booth.....very interesting! Any information regarding John's and Mary's parents and siblings would be most appreciated!!! Would you be able to also note some possiable sources to the connection. I am also trying to connect how Hiram AVERY born abt. 1850 and died April 1921 and buried in Sandcreek Cemetery, (RT 252), Martinsville, Morgan Co., Indiana is related to the above Avery's. Hiram had a living sister Mary Lewis at the time of his death. Hiram was married to Mary E. SHIREMAN (dau. of Henry Shireman, Sr. 1823-1898 and grandaughter of Michael & Elizabeth (Shuford) Shireman). Hiram had a son Will Avery (1890-1977) and Will had two twin daughters Doris and Dorothy Avery that lived on their father's farm (that was next door, east of Sandcreek Cemetery) till their deaths. Both girls never married. I am related to both Doris and Dorothy through the Shireman line. However, I wonder if Hiram Avery is related to John Avery (1767-1845) and his Son David Avery (1799; NC - 1826; IN) as well. NOTE: David Avery purchased land on August 26, 1823 which is now Morgan Trails Subdivision (next door west and east of Sandcreek Cemetery; RT. 252). David and his wife Nancy Kemp, and David's mother Mary Pringle are all buired within feet of Michael and Elizabeth (Shuford) Shireman in the Sandcreek Cemetery. John died 3/1845 and I beleive he is also buried next to his wife Mary Pringle who died 3/1850. However not able to locate his marker. A broken marker was laying near Mary's marker in the late 1970s/80's. Michael and Elizabeth moved to Morgan CO. in 1835 and it appears they they settled near Sandcreek Cemetery. Does anyone know if their property was Will's Avery Farm? Elizabeth is one of the oldest graves (3/31/1846). I am wondering if the Avery's and Shuford's/Shireman families knew of each other in Rowan/Lincoln Co., NC. Does anyone know what other families the Avery's and the Shirman's emigrated with from North Carolina? Any information is most appreciated. Thank you! It's been awhile since I've done research due to health issues over the last year or so. However, upon last looking I was put in touch with one a Mr. Cherry who has a done more than 40 years of research on his Bieber/Beaver line and somehow my family is connected with his. I was and still am looking for a way to connect David H. Beavers of Tennesee to David/Dewalt Bieber/Beaver of Rowan Co., NC. However, I am told that these records just either do NOT exist or have not been found after more than 40 years of research. This was my last correspondence to him and I'm still looking for a link here: Buford Rimmer and his wife Sally Beaver-Rimmer published material on the early family. Sally Beaver is a descendant of Dawalt and Betsy through their son David. Nicholas (gen. 1) Dawalt/David (gen. 2) Mary (gen. 3) m. Henry Beaver son of Peter Elizabeth (gen. 3) m. Henry Beaver son of Peter John A. (gen. 2) David (gen. 3) m. Sarah Rimer Peter (gen. 1) brother to Nicholas Henry (gen. 2) m. Mary m. Elizabeth after Mary's death. m.
