Cathy, don't give up, and think that Elizabeth Wiseman's marriage is "gone" Do you know who she married? The name could be "Betsy" "Betty"or "Janie" or any nickname for Elizabeth. A lot of the Wiseman family left N.C. So If I were you, I would keep looking for her in other states.None of my family that were in NC stayed there.Did you look in Davidson county NC? There were quaker connections there in the Wiseman family too, if I remember correctly..I am only familiar with "Wiseman" that connected to the Willis family. Good-luck. Stella
Hi Stella, Yes, I have checked in Davidson Co. and Burke Co., also. I know it is possible that she left. Just can not get anything going on her after 1813. I have found marriage records for all but one of her siblings. But do have a husband for that one also. No I do not know who she married. Not even sure she did marry, just thinking she probably did. I guess she could have also died and did nothing?? Can't locate her in the 1820 census as her self or living with any family member, I know of and can figure out who is in the household. Can't locate her in any census from 1810 on. But I know she was there in 1813. This is a very important link for me, it links my Wiseman's with the Rowan Co. NC Wiseman's. This is why I am working so hard to try to find Elizabeth, and some vital info on her. Thank you very much for the insight. There is no JAmes Haynes in the cemetery listing I have. It is possible if he was buriedthere, there was no stone, or the stone has been lost. Have you contacted the church. The Rowan County marriages 1753-1868 does not show a marrage for an Elizabeth Wiseman. Can any one answer this? Did only children with some sort of estate get a guardian in Rowan Co. or was this not an issue in appointing a guardian to a child? Thank you Cathy
Thank you Pat. I have been told that about half or more of the Rowan Co. Marriages are missing. I am just going to have to recognize this. Her marriage is gone. Thanks again! The town of "Old Salem" North Carolina was settled by German Moravians, one of whom, I believe, had purchased a large tract of land, located now in what is generally Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Hi Janice, Coddle Creek Associate Reformed Presbyerian Church dates from about 1753. It's a couple of hundred yards north of the Cabarrus line in Iredell County. It started in Anson, then Rowan and in 1789 Iredell was formed. That's where you need to look. Larry in Kannapolis BTW, using all caps is considered shouting and impolite on the web. lh Janice Lee Ahola wrote: >ACCORDING TO FAMILY RUMORS, WE HAVE FAMILY BURIED IN CODDLE CREEK CEMETERY.
