Cody die in Rowan County? Was this a second??? marriage (Cody)? Was your father born in Rowan County? Do you know where your parents were married??? or where they might have lived in this area? These questions might seem dublicates, but I need to pinpoint the area to research??? Will be glad to do it. Patricia B. 3. Becoming a member of Heritage does not give you access to online data. It says you have to go to Genealogy.com for that. ONLY $29.95 per year That's less than $2.50 per month DOES NOT INCLUDE HERITAGEQUEST ONLINE ACCESS. Visit Genealogy.com for individual subscription to U.S. Census and Genealogy & Local History online collections. I am a member of Genealogy.com. I have the normal subscription, what ever that is called and the 1900 census subscription. They recently announced a new census database. But most are still only browseable. I just checked again and it says when complete they will have from 1790 to 1930 census. Right now the only two that have indexed links are 1810 and 1900. The census images they have browseable are: 1910 . 1900 . 1870 . 1840 . 1820 . 1810 . 1800 . 1790 Which if your a member of Ancestry.com you already have access to these all and more (1790-1930) browseable. And with links to more then genealogy.com has at this time. Back to the issue. As you can see there is not any 1870 indexed on genealogy.com. Apparently libraries can get a subscription to special things?? Too bad one of us did not have an Allen Co. Library card... hehehe. 3. Ok.. found out this much, this is what the library says about the database. Access to the Genealogy Online database - An Explanation Recently, many people from outside our legal service area have been using a database that is available through our website. This is an explanation of why many of you can no longer use this database. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Dear Researcher; This comes as a response to your inquiry regarding access to our HeritageQuest database. We recently discovered that the online product was improperly configured by the vendor. This error was allowing access to the product to ANYONE for free, which is in violation of our licensing agreement. That error has now been corrected. I regret to inform you that only those in our service area with a valid library card are allowed access. While we have briefly explored the idea of "charging" those out of our immediate service area, at this time our organization is not yet large or sophisticated enough to be able to administrate such a thing. As a "silver lining", however -- the responses we have received have been wonderful validations of both the product and the communications network among genealogists. We urge you to approach your local public library and encourage them to invest in HeritageQuest. I would also like to express my appreciation to all of your nice compliments and remarks concerning our website. We are grateful for your understanding and comments. 3. As far as I know she did not get it to work. She said she signed up for it and then she said, Now what? She did not explain what happened next after she signed up for username and password. But apparently it must have did nothing or took her to a screen that went no where or ???. I did not try it. I can not remember on that page that comes up if it says.... if you are not already a registered member click here or something to that.... seems all it said was to type in username and password and may be if you have forgotten your password click here. I do not understand why we could get into it and then couldn't. If it was for a free trial. Seems there should have been something there to say this. Although my cousin did say she seen this free trial some where and may be try it. Guess I should go back and just see what I can find out.. 1. [NCRowan] Book - The Old North State by Eli W. Caruthers
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. Does anyone have the below book? There may be a larger version simply entitled "The Old North State." Interesting revolutionary incidents : and sketches of character, chiefly in the "Old North State" / by the Rev. Eli.Washington Caruthers, D.D. Supposedly in this work there is a mention of a WILLIAM JULIAN who was killed after being captured with William Trogdon; I presume this means in the American Revolution. If anyone has the book, could you see what it has to say about this William Julian? If it has quite a lot, I could get the book through inter-library loan, but I don't know if it is worthwhile or not. By the way, all of my e-mail messages (all my genealogy material except for Word documents) has been wiped out because I tried to upgrade my software and the backup didn't work. Betty Pace
