Ward to his family in N.C. I have some info that has not been verified as yet and would certainly hope it connects to your Levin Ward. My John W. Ward was born somewhere in N.C. in 1825. I have no other info on his past prior to his marriage so am trying to connect him using dates. The dates of Levin Ward and Priscilla Price's marriage (1775) and dates of the births of their children (especially Francis Asbury Ward in 1799) could possibly be the connection I am looking for. My John W. Ward has named his children many of the names of the Levin Ward family & Francis Asbury Ward family. They are: Malissa Caroline Celia Ward, William Perry Ward, John Leandrew Ward, Mary Frances Ward, Daniel O. Ward (my line), Charles J. Ward, Benjamin Clay Ward, and James Hubbard Ward. Francis Asbury Ward married Mary Watkins in 1823...(My John W. Ward was born in 1825), but no children are noted by them. Then he is shown marrying Sarah Mil! > ler in 1828 and their first child is shown as John W. Ward without a birthdate, but what is interesting is that the second child wasn't born until 1830. This makes me think that Francis and Mary married in 1823, had John W. Ward in 1825. Something happened to his wife between 1823 and 1828 when he remarried to Sarah Miller. I think it may be possible that she died in childbirth in 1825 while giving birth to John W. Ward. Then, Francis remarried in 1828 when John would have been about 3 years old. That may be the reason there is no birthdate listed for him. It is very feasible and that is why I am writing to you. Can you provide any info on the John W. Surnames: Stewart/Stuart Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0VB.2ACI/7018 Message Board Post: Am seeking information on my paternal grandmother’s family from North Carolina. Her name was Lula Florence Stewart daughter of James J. Stewart (Stuart?) and Laura Elizabeth McDaniel (daughter of Asbury McDaniel and Martha Ann Gardner). Supposedly, Lula Florence was born in Stokes County, NC, 8/4/1883. I seem to remember at one time hearing the family may have migrated from Pennsylvania, but cannot trace any information backward past Lula Florence’s parents’ names, her date of birth, and her maternal grandparents’ names. Siblings of Lula Florence were Joseph Asbury (b. 2/26/1887) and David William Columbus (b. 2/7/1882), but don’t know where family was living at the time of their births either. Know they eventually came to settle in Rowan - Cabarrus County area of N.C., where Lula Florence Stewart Cook (Mrs. Ingle O.) and her brother, Joseph A. Stewart (wife - Mayfield) were living from at least around late1890’s – late 1950’s/mid-1960’s. Great grandfather, James J. Stewart, left family in Rowan/Cabarrus County area, and went on to have a second family somewhere else in NC, but have no information on them either. Anyone having any information about the James J. Stewart family(ies) in N.C. (or possibly PA), would appreciate your sharing with me. M.C. Jost
Is there someone who has a copy of the Rowan County Heritage book, who will check to see if there is an article in it on John Lewis Beard? If so, and there is an article on him, I have some questions for which I need answers: 1. Was he a German? 2. Where did he live prior to being in Rowan Co., NC? 3. What was the name of his wife? 4. What were the names of his children? 5. What were the names of his children's spouses? 6. What is the earliest date for which there is a record of his being in Rowan Co., NC? I will appreciate an answer to even one of my questions. Thank you, Carole Irene Crismon Cook
