Seems there was a Nemien/Ninien Steel h/o Jane Armstrong that died in Owen CO Indiana. This Nemien/Ninien was the s/o Samuel Steel Jr. buried in Rowan CO NC s/o Samuel Sr. & Ann Futhey. Seems that your Ninian may be of the same group. BUT, I also noted the Locke surname. You see, further on down the line, my Nancy Jane Lock marries into my Samuel Franklin Evans family. Their daughter married into the Steele family. These families found in Putnam & Owen CO Indiana1820-1830s, and then in Davis CO Iowa1840s-1850s. Nancy Jane Locke was the d/o John Locke of NC and Sarah Ann Dolan. This John Locke Jr. s/o John Lock of NC and Lucretia Hicks. Any relation? All leads appreciated. Thank you, Debra kylea@jps.net

Here is the background: My gg.grandfather was Robert Steele Taylor born 1832 in TN. The assumption is that his mother was a 'Steele' as indicated by Robert's middle name. NOTE that the 1880 census lists NC as her birth state. This led me to look at other Steeles in the area of Davis CO Iowa and Owen CO Indiana. Upon researching land records I found a John A. Steel who (also)married into my Taylor family signed off on a piece of property that my Robert S. Taylor owned. This John A. had a sister Elizabeth who also married in my Shields family. (Close group) This same John A. Steel is found in Owen CO Indiana, along with some of my other Taylor family members. -- I would love to know more about this John A. Steel and his sis Elizabeth! My question: Does anyone know of 'a' female Steele who married a Taylor that was born in NC, & was in Owen CO Indiana at the same time that these other Steeles (James, John, John R., Nemien, Robert<g>, & Samuel ) lived there? Also adding that there are several Steele HHs in the Davis CO Iowa 1850 census including a Jane Y. Steel age 45. All leads appreciated. Thank you, Debra Anderson

If Ludwig did marry Catherine, who was the mother of his children (1st wife?). Was Jakob really the father of the other Ludwig Winkler? Best Dwayne Meyer
