My lineage is John Montgomery m.Martha Montgomery (cousins). When they arrived in 1735 to Paxtang, Lancaster Co., PA, John Montgomery m.Martha Finley were already there. I have a pamphlet on Rev. Joseph Montgomery and have determined the father of Samuel Finley was Michael Finley of co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. I have not determined who Martha Finley's father was and how he related to Samuel and Michael Finely. My working hypothesis has been that they WERE related, because Joseph got into Princeton which was a goodly distance from Paxtang. I have a will of a William Montgomery who lived in the parrish next to Michael FInely. I know Martha Finley was from co. Antrim which is a bit north of co Armagh. If you have anything on this lineage, I would appreciate it.

Hello Jim I have set up a custom search engine on Olive Tree Genealogy to search ships coming from Ireland to N. America. This search engine searches multiple websites, not just OTG. You may want to take a look there and see what comes up. http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/searchirish.shtml You can also browse online lists of Irish ships at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/irish_index.shtml They are arranged by year, with the earliest being 1677 While search engines are great, it's always a good idea to browse the online lists in case a ship is missed, or a name is mispelled, or just spelled differently than you expect. Also see Irish to USA at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/irishtousa.shtml Good luck! From your previous information Oct 2001, you pointed out that Margaret Walton who married James Jacobs 21 Aug. 1817 in Rowan Co., NC was not found in Washington Co., IN where her brothers Isaac and Joseph Walton moved around 1830. Margaret Yost Walton, their widowed mother, lived with them in Washington Co., IN. Margaret Walton Jacobs sister Catherine (Cathy), who married John Biles, moved to Clay Co. (Jackson Co.), TN about the same time. Their children are: William Smith Biles (moved to Texas after 1850), Margaret Peggy Biles (Mrs. Jim Condra), Daniel Biles, Pleasant Biles, and John Condra Biles. I have not found Margaret Walton Jacobs in Tennessee. During the Civil War, Margaret Peggy Biles and husband Jim Condra moved to Orange Co., IN near French Lick. Now that I know that their Walton kin lived in Indiana, perhaps 'the why' they left their home and people in Tennessee. I feel there must be some connection between our Margaret Walton who married James Jacobs 1817 in Rowan Co., NC and the Jacobs with Waltons in his household on the 1850 Rowan County Census.
