    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0VB.2ACI/7063 Message Board Post: Seeking info regarding William A. Carter, my grandfather, his children by first wife whose name may have been Ella, when and where he died and any info about him or his decendents. He was living in DC when he married my grandmother in May 1909 but was known to be living in Spencer, NC later in 1909. Documents I have show him to be "a widower with several children" when he married my grandmother. They separated soon after marrying and they tried to reconcile after he moved to (back to) Spencer but efforts failed. He may have returned to DC but not sure. I believe his first family lived in the Spencer area. Rowan County Masonic Lodge assisted in relocating my grandmother because of "an abusive relationship". My father, Selden Sr. was born April 1910 in Richmond, VA. He never knew his father's name or anything about him. I located a marriage certificate and believe my grandfather is the William A. Carter shown in the 1880 cencus living in Rockingham County, NC.at the age of 8. The marriage certificate to my grandmother showed him to be 36 in May 1909. Please, any and all help will be appreciated. You now know about all I know about him.
