You may already have this information, and I cannot vouch for its authenticity, but I have included it below. *** Per LDS: Enoch Hunt (AFN: 1VH4-CT0) and Elizabeth Chaffin are on various records as parents of: 1) Noah Enoch Hunt, b. 12 Mar 1812, NC; d. 10 Oct 1867, Leon, Texas 2) Nathan Chaffin Hunt, b. 17 Nov 1802, of Lone Jack Cem,,, Missouri (or NC, depending on the source record in LDS); d. 03 Sep 1872. He married Mary "Polly" Frost (granddaughter of Daniel Boone) *** I am researching my Hunt family and am trying to locate the parents of Daniel Boone Hunt, b. 1818, married to Susan Smith. Since Daniel Boone Hunt is said to be related to Daniel Boone, I have been researching Daniel Boone's direct descendants. He had a daughter, Rebecca Boone (b. 1768). She appears in LDS as having a second husband, Capt. John Frost (b. 1770, married 1793). They had a daughter Mary Frost (b. 1799). She is listed as married to Nathan Chaffin Hunt(b. abt 1795). It is possible that Mary and Nathan are the parents of my Daniel Boone Hunt, and I am seeking more information. If you have gotten anywhere on your search for Enoch's and Elizabeth's descendants, whether or not they include Nathan Chaffin Hunt, I sure would appreciate your help. Hi y'all, The 1890 U.S. census was NOT distroyed in a fire! In 1921 there was a fire in the same building that housed the U.S. census, the Commerce Building. The 1890 U.S. census was damaged by the water used to extinguish the fire. In 1933 the U.S. Congress authorized the distruction of the 1890 U.S. census. And in 1935 it was distroyed by the Department of Commerce. In 1942 some schedules from Illinois were discovered to have survived. And in 1953 a few scattered schedules from various counties in various states were found. The 1890 census indexes for Union Veterans (not Confederates, alas) have mostly been published. Perhaps they are on Ancestory.com--I have not looked, as only one of my ancestors was a Union veteran. Are you near a large genealogical library--or a family history center (LDS)? If so, telephone and ask whether they have any published 1890 census indexes for Union Veterans. Each state has a different index. If these indexes are not near your home, perhaps you can request a look-up for the particular state in which you are interested. Maybe somebody will reward you. I thought I read there was a small fire which was extinguished leaving some (but not all) of the 1890 Census water damaged. A junior bureacrat named J. Edgar Hoover ordered the entire 1890 Census destroyed. It is perhaps pertinent to remember the Eugenics movement was getting started and the "one drop" laws were being enacted. It is rumored that Hoover had black blood on his father's side (who was also a career government bureacrat). The 1890 Census would have been a critical Census for "deleting" or changing one's heritage. This leaves Hoover with both motive and opportunity...but there's no proof. Interesting possibility though. ~malinda Hi y'all, The 1890 U.S. census was NOT distroyed in a fire! In 1921 there was a fire in the same building that housed the U.S. census, the Commerce Building.
