The information I have came from Mrs Agnes Teague Cunningham from Nortonsville KY, and she says William died May 26, 1775 in Rowan Co. NC (no cemetery) And she has Isabella died 1762 (she has NC .) She also has (not proven)that a Leonard Loftin arrived in the USA onboard the ship "WEST" in 1636. Could this be Isabella's grandfather? My great grandfather was Benjamin Smith who married Sarah Jane Chaplin in 1847 in Hendricks County Indiana. Sarah Jane was the daughter of John Henry Chaplin and Mary Pope. I would like to obtain a copy of the record you mention of John Henry serving in the Rowan Co. NC militia of 1812 and a copy of the marriage bond or license. I wonder if you could refer me to a source of the military record and if you know their marriage record. I suppose you have read the Silas Peace book on the Popes the ancestors of Mary Pope.
