However, as I live out of state I have found a good website: www.copies1918.com which has several states public records. Rowan Co., NC has 3 different will books with a total of 7 Morison/Morrison's listed. Each copy is $5.25. This includes a xeroxed copy of the will (very hard to read) and then a typed copy of the will. The will you are responding about is available through the website in Volume B, page 95 of Rowan Co., records. Their information is from Rowan County: Record of Wills: 1762-1805: A,B,C,D,E,F: Roll#: C.085.80001: North Carolina Archives, Raleigh, N.C. Good luck. Mary would have been 56 years old when she had John Franklin if this were to be true. Other people state John Franklin is the son of Jacob Shoaf and Elizabeth Grubb-but John Franklin was born before their marriage date of 1-27-1846. Now I am totally confussed. Cannot find a John Shoaf in the 1850 census with an age of 6 years old. I find two John Shoaf's at age 4-no Frank Shoaf at age 6. We need to keep working on this puzzle. Author: plumfine Surnames: Shoaf Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.rowan/12286.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Brady, I was doing a search for John Franklin Shoaf on Ancestry.com and ran across him listed in One World Tree. I take these trees with a lot of skepticism and try to prove what is on them before I go taking it as fact. The one I found has 13 user submitted trees that ancestry had combined into one..see what I mean by skepticism! At least one might have the missing key but you still have to search for it's proof. Anyway, they have this: John Franklin Shoaf 1844-1928, son of John Shoaf and Mary F. Binkley. spouse, Louisa Astzmann, b. 1839, Davidson, NC, d. 1906, Davidson, NC, does not list her parents. It only covers one child and that is Sallie Catherine Shoaf, b. 9/13/1873, Yadkin, NC, d. 7/10/1958, Forsyth, NC, married on 2/23/1895 in Yadkin, NC to Robert Franklin McNeil, b. 10/4/1873, Wilkes, NC, d. 7/30/1963. Sallie and her husband have a slew of children listed and they're all shown born in Courtney, Yadkin, NC. This tree covers at least three generations back on the Shoaf lineage. 2. Thank you! I WANT to participate with assisting others on this maillist!? That is why I am here! If my research results apply to something I see, I will respond.? However, I don't really have any interest in this obit...? I wonder what assistance I could have given if someone had changed the subject line??? I get over 100 emails a day...? so, if I don't see something that rings a bell, etc., I delete it also.? I, too, cannot jump through hoops to try to assist others. Please help yourselves by changing the subject line so others of us MAY be of assistance. This list is a GREAT one!? Very active!? Let's, please, make sure we CAN help one another... Some of the records were destroyed by Federal troops in 1865. County seat: Salisbury. I will add: Many counties were formed from old Rowan Co. So refer to the map. When I put John F. or L. Baity in the last post it was just referring to that discussion. Here is what I posted in case you missed it: "George Enoch Francis Baity's son is shown on the 1880 census as John F. Baity, b. abt. 1873. The "F" could be another middle name or an error. It's all part of the big puzzle but I agree it strongly suggests that he is the son of George Enoch. John L. Baity is shown is 1930 census at Salisbury, Rowan, NC, age 58, b.abt. 1872, spouse, Eliza B. with children, Marvin D. age 24, Dallas K. age 20, George E. age 16, Odell O., age 13. The son George E. is possibly named for George Enoch." Which address do you want, my email or snail mail address?
