Salisbury Post, 11/20/1960 John L. Baity Succumbs Here John Lewis Baity, 88, of 117 East Harrison Street, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. Leo Stiller of the Charlotte Highway. He had been in declining health several years and seriously ill since February. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 o'clock in the Stallings Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. J. B. Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Courtney Baptist Church cemetery in Yadkin County. The body will lie in state in the church for 30 minutes prior to final rites and will be at the Summerset Funeral Home until moved to the residence of Mrs. Stiller at 3 o'clock today. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rowan County Rescue Squad. Mr. Baity was born in Yadkin County on September 12, 1872, son of the late George and Julia Henderson Baity. He received his education in the Yadkin County Schools and was employed in the carpenter trade most of his life, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Stallings Memorial Baptist Church and active in its work and that of his Sunday School class until his health failed. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eliza Shoaf Baity, to whom he was married April 9, 1899; four sons, Marvin Baity of Kannapolis, Dallas R., George E. and Odell Baity, all of Salisbury; his daughter, Mrs. J. Leo Stiller; one brother, A. C. Baity of Forsyth County; three sisters, Mrs. I. I. Baity of Yadkinville, Miss Ollie V. Baity and Mrs. A. A. I believe this Andrew Morrison was the son of David Morrison (1752-1800) who was the son of Andrew Morrison (1718-1770). Andrew was probably married previously than his marriage to Margaret M. Ervin.
