I know this sounds an odd question but the county I live in only goes to 1902 due to a court house fire. I was wondering how far back the courthouse goes and if their is a good genealogy section at the library. Also is their a good historical Society? Matt, There is no listing for Nehemiah Odell and Martha Mary Julian anywhere in North Carolina at Ancestry.com. The only listing that I did find was under "United States and International Marriages" (I think is the name of the listing) and these are only what different people have listed for them in their family trees, it does not mean that they have any proof of the marriage actually taking place. Maybe not, I need to look at 1820 census and see who is living with him. He (the one I am looking for) remarried a Martha. She is about 10-12 yrs older than his oldest son. His son, William Cowan may or may not be a direct link to me. His second wife, Elizabeth SONDLES OWEN COWAN was the mother of my GGrandmother, Mary Elizabeth OWEN WATKINS. Anyway, my question is? does anyone know who the father of Jane Cowan is? Henry Cowan was born about the same time, 1792 if I remember without looking. Does anyone know who Henry Cowan who married Elizabeth Rex 1824 is and where he went? That would be about the right time. Henry must have remarried because he is living with a Martha in AR who is only about 10-12 years older than his son. Cousins from across the United States are already making travel plans. All Costner / Kastner descendants and relatives are invited to join their relatives. Bring photos and stories of your family. Don't forget your camera! The pioneer Costner, George Adam Kastner, who was born in Germany, traveled to our United States on the ship, Patience, in 1748. After arriving in Pennsylvania, Adam and his family migrated to present day North Carolina. He settled in the Old Tryon area where he started the Kastner Church. He became the first person buried in the Kastner Cemetery. Adam's eight children married into the Fritz, Brooks, Rudisill, Dellinger, Barringer families. Descendants of Adam Kastner and their families have multiplied vastly and spread all across the United States and even further. All are invited back to the area where Adam Kastner once lived, worked and worshiped. Our National Reunion will begin with a Continental Breakfast at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served from Noon until 2 p.m. Meals are catered by Mitchem's Kitchen of Vale, North Carolina. Meal reservations are $20 for an adult and $10 (10 and under) for a child. Reservations can be made by contacting Charlotte Costner Brown at 704-482-8151 or Vickie Costner Rudasill at 704-538-3292, or [email protected] or 615 Hicks Hill Road, Lawndale, NC 28090. Any funds remaining from the meal tickets sold will go to the National Costner Reunion Fund. The National Costner Reunion Fund was established for the upkeep of the Adam Kastner Cemetery and for the construction of a road to this cemetery. Various events are being planned for the day including trips to the Adam Kastner Cemetery. Prizes will be awarded for greatest distance traveled, oldest in attendance and other recognizable achievements. Information and ordering prices for kits of a developing DNA surname Kastner / Costner project will be available at the 2008 National Reunion. Also, a limited supply of the remaining Costner Family Cookbooks ($10.00) will be for sell throughout the day. A new item, a Costner Family CD ($25.00), will be ready for its first sales at the 2008 National Reunion. Please include shipping and handling of $2.50 for each of the above if you are not attending the reunion but are ordering either a cookbook or CD. One of the most famous present day Costner relatives is Kevin Costner, the actor. A Kevin Costner Look-A-Like contest is being held in conjunction with the 2008 National Reunion. Contact Charlotte or Vickie for a submission form. Submitted photos will be voted on during the day of the reunion. Plans are under way for tours to other historical sites and speakers of interest to the Costner family. Current officers of the National Costner Family Reunion are President, Robin Brown Braddy of Shelby, NC; Vice-President, Mike Costner of Canton, Georgia; Secretary, Charlotte Costner Brown of Shelby, NC; and Treasurer, Vickie Costner Rudasill of Lawndale, NC.
