It has been a while since I posted a query regarding my ancestor. Perhaps someone new has joined the board. I am researching the following: TONY MILLER, b. abt 1822 in NC m. Rowan Blackwelder b. 1850. in Cabarrus County on 12/24/1866 Three known children: Mattie b. abt. 1878, Bettie, b. abt. 1886, Ida Jeanette, b. abt 1888, All three children were born in Rowan County, but lived and died in Cabarrus County. Sue, I don't mean to insult your intelligence if you've already found this, but the following website is very informative: http://www.geocities.com/supchara/Genealogy/Perkins1-2.html I'm assuming you are refering to the Perkins that owned land on Mosquito Creek, located today on the Aberdeen Proving Grounds outside Baltimore. These would also be my Perkins. However, my Perkins moved west to the west side of the Catawba River, I suspect with Adam Sherrill in 1747. I suspect this because the Perkins and Sherrills married into each others' families during this time as did my Robinsons. It is of course more than a little likely that the family split up and moved into different parts of NC as your Perkins line seems to suggest. I took the opportunity to donate a book on the Cagle family, that I had already gotten my information from, while I was there. The people at the library were so helpful and friendly. I live in Germany so my time in the US is always limited. They helped me make the most of my time at their library. I don't mean to suggest that the Iredell, Lincoln and Catawba County libraries, which I visited, aren't also very helpful. As a matter of fact, it was Linda Hoyle of the Lincolnton Public Library that told me how fine a collection of Confederate soldier's records the Rowan County Library had. She was absolutely correct and I greatly appreciate her suggestion. I think this is simply a reflection of our Tar Heel heritage and renowned "Southern Hospitality." It is hoped to establish exactly which lines are related to each other, and to then to prove those relationships through the paper trail. It is hoped that many will benefit, and that testing will help everyone to extend their lineage. Equally important is to know what lines are not related to each other. Even if you are not one of the above surnames, but have that surname in your ancestry, consider going to the Pedigree Forum at: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/m/moler/index.html and posting information on the earliest known males in your line. That information will be posted on the Patriarchs page, where it may encourage direct line males descended from that line to DNA test. If you have any questions, please contact me. We've been lucky that we've never had a fire. Some of the older records sustained a little water damage while stored in the old courthouse basement, but nothing lost.
