My ggrandfather, Strangeman Whitaker born in 1829, moved from Davie County, NC, to Fayette County, TN, in the early 1850s. The first I ever knew about Strangeman was from an 1850 census that listed him with William Whitaker (his first cousin, I assume) and Lydia Whitaker. Also listed on the census was Nancy Whitaker, age 82. Strangeman's parents were Jesse Whitaker and Elizabeth Beal(e) Whitaker, both born in 1790 (married in 1813 in Rowan County, NC). Have any of you Whitaker researchers ever heard of these Whitakers? Thanks for any information you might have. Patricia Wilson
