Actually, the land of the Lost Colony is Roanoke Island, North Carolina, with the two towns of Manteo and Wanchese on it, named after the helpful Indians who gave the Colony much-needed advice in their first months here. The Isle of Wight, if I am not mistaken, is in Virginia? And, you are right, there is a HUGE amount of information about the Lost Colony on the Internet. It is one of time's greatest unsolved mysteries. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Outer Banks of North Carolina, make sure to go to Roanoke Island. There is the Fort Raleigh Historic site with the ORIGINAL fort the Colony built there restored some, a replica of the Elizabeth II with historic actors aboard to show how the colonists travelled here, along with the oldest running outdoor drama in the US, "The Lost Colony," which plays nightly from June through August. darlene cantey wrote: > I will always remember the white deer story.
