Looking for information on the family of Dempsey Woods who evidently spend his entire life in Orange County NC. With the exception of 1810, Dempsey is enumerated on every Orange County NC Census between 1800 and 1850. He was born in 1774 and is recorded as being twice married: 1. To Nancy Glenn in Orange County NC on 15 Aug 1800. 2. To Mary Chisenhall (b 1785) in Orange County NC on 11 Sep 1827. Dempsey is of further record as a witness to the following will: [E-291] Joseph Wood(s) Will dated 11 Nov 1827. Proved 1833. Joseph's wife was a Mary [Leathers] and he mentions a daughter Elizabeth Chisenhall, a son James Woods, and other children: Solomon, Henry, Joseph, Sukey (Susannah) Glenn, Nancy King, and Mary Chisenhall. The will is witnessed by Dempsey and a Frederick Moize. As census entries cease to exist after 1850, I presume Dempsey died in Orange County between 1850 and sometime prior to the 1860 enumeration.
