Many thanks to all who had advice about how to download GEDCOM files from the LDS website. I'll take it to heart & use it. But as Elizabeth so rightly says, we'll leave this subject behind now, since it really wasn't particular to North Carolina genealogy. I'll be more diligent in the future with my questions.
