Has anyone any knowledge of such a place (Dubhunor NC)? It was stated as the birthplace of Dempsey GRIFFIN, born 1837, on some military information. Also on some documents a mention of 'Silver Run Creek' I believe in the area of Flea Hill District, now Eastover to Wade NC. Does anyone know of the where about of this Silver Run Creek? I have just returned from a research trip to NC, and finally made a connection in my GRIFFIN line. Per documents I found: Joseph GRIFFIN was in Cumberland Co. as early as 1787, and possibly made the move into Cumberland from Bladen Co. NC. Related to him, in Cumberland county is: a John, John Jr., Dempsey, Hardy, Bryant, Horatio, Lawrence, and possibly Samuel, and Coleman J. GRIFFIN. These are all connected on several Land Conveyance's (except for Samuel & Coleman J). Bryant of Cumberland Co. died in 1824, administrators to his estate were Mary GRIFFIN, and James LANE. James LANE is said to be the father of Hannah LANE that married Bryant GRIFFIN in Sumter Co. GA (no date) and by 1810 they are back in Cumberland Co. Would like to find the connection of these GRIFFIN'S in GA. Does anyone know of a marriage of Bryant & Hannah LANE of GA? There is also a document on 2 little girls that were orphaned in 1827, Nancy & Hannah GRIFFIN (their guardian that year was Dempsey GRIFFIN), in 1831 & 1837 their guardian is David McNEILL. Believe these girls could have been the daughters of Bryant (his wife was not named in the estate, only referred to as 'widow'). There are several other surnames with connections to this line, in land conveyance's: MIMS, HODGES, McALLISTER, ARMSTRONG, ELKINS, GADDIE, EVANS, MOORE, McCORQUODALE (Bryant GRIFFIN married Mary McCORQUODALE in 1821), LANE, McNEILL, McKETHAN, WILLIFORD (Sion WILLIFORD I believe married Mary GRIFFIN). Thanks for any help or knowledge anyone could supply, on these locations, or any connections to these GRIFFINS. Linda
