I have a few more questions (which may be rhetorical). What happened to deserters of the War of 1812? If they were captured or returned willingly, were they generally placed "in confinement"???? If so, for how long? Were they able to return to duty? Any info here is appreciated. I show a Middleton from SC, who deserted in 1812. Don't know if he's mine or not yet or what happened to him!
