    1. [NCROOTS] BAREFOO/WEST -- NC
    2. Could someone tell me where I could find information about the Barefoot family of color in Sampson/Johnston/Cumberland counties? But most likely Sampson County, Westbrook Township. Specifically, Winifred "Winnie" Barefoot (b. 1840) who married Silas West (b. 1833). Both were considered Mulatto according to 1870 census. There is mixed lineage on both sides of the my gr grandparents families. Dates of m/d are unknown. Somehow they are associated with Kirby West. My gr grandparents and some of their children were buried in the Kirby West Cemetery/Kirby West Colored Cemetery and he signed off on their death certificates (in the Courthouse) in Clinton, NC. There seems to be a connection, not sure how? This is my dead end? I am wondering if they were slaves, sharecroppers or what is the actual connection? I am wondering if there is a book about the Barefoot or the WEST family. I cannot find anything before the 1870 census. Where do I look next? Please Help! RESEARCHING: WEST, BAREFOOT, DRAUGHON, WILLIAMS, MCLAMB AND MATHIS/MATTHEWS/MATHEWS
