    3. Hi Patty, Other researchers have written and told me the reason why it's so hard to find any records on Indians/part-Indians is because there just weren't many at all kept ... Indians were very much frowned upon (2nd class citizens), and the whites didn't think they were worth the trouble. Have you ever read the "Invisible Indians of Delaware?" Very interesting (it can be found on the 'net.') I believe I have the address if anyone would care to have it. My PAVEYs were in both NC (Pasquotank and Guilford Counties, at least), Delaware (Sussex Co) and Maryland. There was a Joseph PAVEY (aka PEVEY) who was an Indian Trader in GA (hired by James Oglethorpe, ca. 1736.) Also, a man by that same name (probably the same person) who was a Ranger and guarded Ft. Argyle (Charleston, SC area.) Yesterday, I found an Oconee Indian trail map in NC (believe the year was 1779) that went thru (at least) Hillsborough (Orange Co), NC on to Guilford Co (nr. Greensborough), then on to Rowan Co. Time ran out on me and I didn't have a chance to find out where this trail originated ... possibly at the Occonee River (sp?) in GA? Joseph Pavey/Pevey did take out land there ca. 1736. I, for one, would like very much to hear of other researchers' experiences and findings on this subject. I'm open to new ways and paths to search ... especially need anything on any listings of Indian scouts. Absolum or Darcus? According to family tradition someone in the family lines was Native American. To this date I can't find it but it could be that it was hidden so well?? Patty
