While reading microfilm copies of the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St. Clair county, Illinois I came across these related articles and since the mother was born in Orange county, North Carolina, thought they may of help to someone on this list. It is not a line I am working on. Nancy Giles Mrs. Ira Smith, Wife of Pastor, Dies At Marissa Mrs. Elizabeth Euphelia Smith, 72, wife of Rev. Ira J. Smith, pastor of the Baptist church in Marissa, died at 9:20 last night in the parsonage, her death resulting from a fall in which she fractured her skull. On October 15 last Mrs. Smith fell on the basement stairway of her home after her return from church and the following morning was taken to a hospital in Vandalia, where x-ray pictures revealed that she had suffered skull fracture. She remained in the hospital a month and returned to her home, where her condition became critical a week ago. Mrs. Smith, nee Smith, was a daughter of the late James Henry and Caroline Martin Smith, both natives of North Carolina. She was born in Rockingham county, N. C., Aug. 27, 1872, and was married to Rev. Ira J. Smith, Aug. 24, 1902, in Bond county, Ill. Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Houston, J., Vandalia; and Jesse E., Yates City, Ill.; one grandchild and a brother, W. R. Smith, Mulberry Grove, Ill. She was a member of the Baptist church, Marissa and of the Missionary Society of the church. The body is at the Finger and Son funeral home, Marissa, where friends may call until 10 o'clock tomorrow night. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in Pleasant Mount Baptist church, near Mulberry Grove, Bond county, with burial in Noffsinger cemetery. Dr. A. P. Smith, of Carbondale, a nephew of the deceased, will conduct the funeral service. The Daily Advocate, Belleville, IL 30 Nov 1944
