Seeking information on a PURCELL family that was living in the Mecklenburg Co., NC area c 1830-1840. Albert Leland PURCELL (c 1832-c 1900) was a son of this family. About 1836 a fire killed his father and members of the family scattered to Georgia and Florida to live with relatives. Information that I have indicates that this family was a member of Fayetteville or Steele Creek Church near Charlotte, NC. I assume that it was a Presbyterian Church since members of this family were Presbyterian in the latter part of the 19th century. Is this church still in existence?
