Just wanted to thank everyone once again for their help on my question about the library. The story is kind of interesting, if you will allow me to share what happened. I went to see my family who presently resides in Stanly Co., but drove down for the weekend for the sole purpose of taking generation pictures with my new daughter and her great great grandfather and grandmother who live in Moore County. When I arrived on Friday, I called the library in Carthage (Moore Co.) to make sure they were open until 6 p.m. as stated on their website. They said they were closing at 3:30 p.m. instead because of the ice. It was almost 12 when I called, and it was an hour drive from Stanly County. I arrived in time, but was very flustered, and had my sister to help me pull family name files and books off the shelf while I look for the mirofilm census reports. We bookmarked some pages and I couldn't get the Microfilm machine to work. So the lady had to come and fix it, and finally she did. When I finally sat down to do my research, the power went out!! Which not only meant no research, but no copies. The power still wasn't on when I left, and I left empty handed. Needless to say, I was frustrated. But come to find out, my grandfather had 2 of the main books I was looking at, so I borrowed them. They were: Miscellaneous Ancient Records of Moore County, N.C. by Rassie E. Wicker A Guide to Moore County Cemeteries compiled by Anthony E. Parker These books gave me more information than I could have gotten in the time that I was there, so I was elated. If anyone is doing research and could use information from one of these books, I would be happy to oblige. The Ancient records book holds the 1790 and 1850 Census, plus land grants, etc. The Cemetery book helped me to nail down dates and spelling. Thanks again to all who helped me, maybe next time I can actually use it. LJ Brown Front Royal, VA Download NeoPlanet at http://www.neoplanet.com
