Seeking information on Albert Leland PURCELL who was born c 1836 in North Carolina and died c 1900 in Little Rock, Arkansas. In the 1860 census he was listed as an overseerer and was living in McKinley, Marengo County, Alabama. He probably married in late 1860 as he had a son who was born in 1861 in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama. That son was named John McLeod PURCELL (1861-1946) and he had a son named Malcolm Lee PURCELL (1893-1978). After Albert Leland PURCELL died some family members moved to the Austin, Texas area. John McLeod PURCELL and his son Malcolm PURCELL were very active in the Presbyterian Church in Texas. Who were the parents of Albert Leland PURCELL? He should show up in the 1850 North Carolina census as a 14 year old boy. I have no idea what county he or his parents may have lived in. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
