    3. Fred, these aren't towns in that time frame . . . they are counties. ROWAN (which is correct spelling) was once a huge county covering almost the hole half of NC from the central area westward. Someone on the list has a site location of which counties formed from others, and also possibly what their boundaries looked like way back then.
