He entered the militia in Capt Brattons company, Col Neal�s regiment, was at Ashes defeat on Briar creek, Georgia under Major Ross was at the battle of Stono in South Carolina and had acted as sergeant, - in place of Capt Hawthorn, then absent and immediately after fall of Charleston, when the enemy ca! me into backcountry he joined Gen Sumpter at Clams Branch in the Indian land �Capt Nixons company was at Hooks defeat near Col Brattons was at the Battle of Hanging Rock, was with Gen Sumpter when attacked by the British at Fishing creek, was at Battle of Blackstocks � was at capture of Congaree fort besides some other skirmishes and served until the enemy left the country. HE HAS NO FAMILY �Now over age 65; AFFIDAVIT OF J. McCREARY in Ohester Dist S C 1823 served with this soldier.
