    3. Capt Hugh Parks, Jr. was a Rev. War Vet who lived in Mecklenburg Co., NC. He recieved a land grant from the federal government for services in the War. According to: MARY PARKS MCINTOSH, IN 1907, THE LAND FROM THE WAR GRANT TO HUGH PARKS, Jr. WAS LOCATED IN FAYETTE CO., LOCATED IN WESTERN TENNESSEE. (this is from another researcher) I have just read the excerpt from a book which deals soley with Land Grants from the Revolutionary War, and it says that the land granted to North Carolina soldiers was not located within the PRESENT day NC borders. So this makes sense. The land given to NC soldiers was located OUT of present NC bounderies My oldest KNOWN Parks man of this line is: MOSES PARKS b. 1821 NC, both parents born NC, married Mary A. Culp. Died 1888 in Fayette Co., TN He and his family are shown on the 1880 census at District 14, Fayette Co. TN This is the Sommerville, TN location. This Parks family founded the PARKS CHURCH and SCHOOL and CEMETERY there and are well documented at Sommerville, TN. I DO NOT know the parents of Moses Parks, but I believe that Moses Parks is most likely the grandson of Hugh Parks, the above described Revolutionary War Veteran. According to research posted at World Connect Project at www.rootsweb.com Hugh Parks, Jr. had the following sons: Lycan John Andrew William N. Moses Parks chose to name his own sons: Peter John Thomas If anyone can help me to connect these families or has advice, etc. please write back, Lillian Kathleen Martin
