    1. [NCROOTS] ALFORD CHILDERS
    2. On the 1840 Lincoln County, NC census, page 112 I find my great great great grandfather Alford Childers. The index says Alfred Childers, but the actual census says Alford Childers. Alford is listed as being under 30 years old, as is his wife, Emley M. Herrington Childers. There is also listed a male child under the age of 5, which is Alford Maloy Childers, and a female child under the age of 5, whom I know nothing about. On the 1860 Lamar County, TX census I find Alford Maloy Childers, but no sister. Next door to Alford Maloy Childers is listed a G. W. Childers from Georgia. Where were these people between 1840 and 1860 ? Alford Maloy Childers married Lucinda Osborne who was from Tennessee. Were they all in route from NC to Texas via Georgia where they picked up a relative named G.W. Childers, or in Tennessee where he met Lucinda, or in both places, or just wandering around ? I don't suppose you have a Childers female married to someone unknown to me whose parents were Alford and Emley M. Herrington Childers, who was born in NC between 1835 and 1840? Does any of this information ring a bell for anyone ? Jack Childers in OKC International Society of BlackSheep Genealogists http://www.gbnf.com/genealogy/childers/html/surnames.htm
